The Mamaroneck Beach & Yacht Club was reopened on Wednesday, July 24 after testing showed that the water quality was safe, according to the Westchester County Department of Health.
The beach was originally shut down on Thursday, July 18 after 1.30 inches of rain fell in 24 hours.
According to county health officials, heavy rainfall and discharges from stormwater drains can bring high levels of harmful bacteria that cause illness.
